PARTNERS
Zizi's Bee Company LLC works in partnership with HELP A BROTHER OUT FOUNDATION AND IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION INCORPORATED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF ALABAMA.
Help turn a vacant city lot into a home for dozens of honeybee colonies and lush pollinator garden. The fruits and vegetables will be given to elderly and the community.
Help A Brother Out Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Montgomery, Al. We are dedicated to serving the local community through food assistance, community gardening, and honoring the memory of my brother David Yu who was tragically killed at the age of 23 years old. The foundation aims to provide help and hope to those in need by meeting their basic food and nutrition needs.
We accomplish this mission through:
•Operating and maintaining a community garden where members of the community can grow their own food.
•Organizing and hosting regular mobile food pantry giveaways to distribute fresh produce and other nutritious foods to those in need.
•Offering educational programs and workshops to teach community members gardening and cooking skills to improve health and wellness.
•Creating a welcoming space for community members to build relationships and form a stronger, more connected community through shared experiences in the garden.
In the heart of our community, the Help A Brother Out Foundation’s community garden stands as a beacon of hope and resilience. Inspired by the tragic loss of my brother, David, to gun violence, this garden was created to transform grief into positive action. It serves as a nurturing space where residents come together to grow food, cultivate relationships, and learn vital skills that promote self-sufficiency. Our garden not only provides fresh produce but also fosters a sense of belonging and community pride. The need for our garden is evident in the increasing food insecurity faced by many families in our area. With rising costs and limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables, community members often struggle to meet basic nutritional needs. By offering gardening workshops and hands-on experiences, we empower individuals, particularly youth, to take charge of their health and well-being. The garden acts as an educational hub, teaching sustainable practices and the importance of local food systems while instilling a sense of environmental stewardship.
Our vision extends beyond just growing food; it encompasses creating a sustainable future for our community. We are committed to enhancing our garden with features such as composting systems and spaces for workshops on nutrition and cooking. These enhancements will ensure that our garden remains a vibrant resource for generations to come, addressing both immediate needs and long-term community goals.

As we cultivate our plants, we are also cultivating hope. The garden has become a gathering place for families, friends, and neighbors, facilitating connections that strengthen our community. Events like food drives and harvest festivals not only celebrate our bounty but also raise awareness about food justice issues. Through these activities, we aim to inspire others to engage in positive change, whether through gardening, volunteering, or supporting local initiatives..
We invite you to join us in this transformative journey. Your support can help us expand our efforts, allowing us to reach more individuals and families in need. Together, we can cultivate not only a garden but also a thriving community that honors David’s legacy and empowers everyone to make a difference.
